Centigrade • Oak Aged Buckwheat Sour Raw Ale with Black Currant Leaves, Dandelion Root & Lemon Zest • 5.5% • 375 mL

One dollar of every bottle sold of Half Hours on Earth Centigrade will be donated to a non-profit organization focused on environmental protection and sustainability, and more specifically, climate change! While our batch sizes are quite small, we hope to have semi-regular beer releases relating to the climate in an effort to bring more awareness and donate what we can to various organizations in which we feel will help our planet through this climate emergency.

Centigrade is brewed for maximum refreshment during those summer scorchers. As you know, our planet is warming at an accelerating rate, temperatures around the globe are at their warmest in history. Canada specifically, is on average, experiencing warming at twice the rate of the rest of the world according to a recent report. As such, we have chosen the David Suzuki Foundation for this beer’s donations. One dollar of each bottle will go towards their efforts in climate awareness as well as their projects for a more sustainable and lower carbon future.

Aptly named Centigrade for our rising temperatures, this beer will hopefully cool you down momentarily at the very least. Fermented HOT with a blend of kveik ale strains from @escarpmentlabs (Årset & Hornindal) and aged in oak with additional microbes & bacteria. This dry little 5.5% beer is an Oak Aged Raw Sour Ale brewed with Buckwheat, Black Currant Leaves, Dandelion Root & Lemon Zest. Large quantities of buckwheat, and without boiling, lend a medium bodied, silky mouthfeel. While the root, leaves & zest combine for what could be described as a rustic, woodsy, earthy, funky lemonade. Hopped with Lemondrop, Saaz, Sterling & Styrian Golding for a nice new world/old world lemony, grassy finish.

Climate Solutions:

“Goal: Accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future. Climate change threatens the planet’s life‐support systems. In 2016, ratification of the United Nations’ Paris Agreement — signed by 195 countries, including Canada, and the European Union — was a product of the mounting urgency to act on the defining issue of our time. The agreement requires Canada and other industrialized nations to transition from fossil fuels to 100 per cent renewable energy by 2050. To this end, we are building a compelling vision of Canada’s renewable energy opportunity throughout the country — with citizens, cities, Indigenous communities and businesses. We will help shift the climate narrative from despair to possibility, and create real opportunities for Canadians to be part of the solution.”
